Dion Art Conservation serves both private and institutional clients in the following areas:
- Treatment of paintings, including Old Master and traditional through contemporary works;
- Condition reporting and collection surveys for documenting present condition of works, and for determining treatment or preservation needs of individual works or collections;
- Preventive care, including guidance for caring for works in order to prevent the need for treatment, and implementation of preservation recommendations;
- Disaster preparedness assistance and emergency response;
- Grant-writing assistance and participation in grant-funded activities.
Dion Art Conservation emphasizes preventive care as a means for minimizing the need for undertaking treatment of works of art. Treatments reflect current conservation practice, employ non- or minimally-invasive treatment methods as a standard of care, and seek to preserve the structural, aesthetic, and historical integrity of works of art. All work is done in compliance with the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC).
On-site visits to view works at locations in the greater Boston area can be scheduled for consultation, condition reporting and collection surveys, treatment proposals and cost estimates, limited minor treatment, and emergency response. All works are evaluated on an individual basis; treatment decisions cannot be made without first examining a work of art.
